I’m no expert in Political commentary, and I wouldn’t like to get my hands dirty either, at least not for someone like Donald Trump, so I’d just point towards Hugh Hewitt and million others who are asking Trump to withdraw from the Presidential race. But what I do want to talk about is why Samsung should simply call it quits with the Galaxy Note 7. Some of you would quickly point fingers at our earlier opinion on how the Galaxy Note 7 recall might not be as bad a move for Samsung. In the hindsight, we got it wrong. When we wrote the story during September first week, there were isolated reports of the Note 7 batteries getting fried. Soon enough, there came the reports of the phone ‘exploding’ and ‘catching fire’, and now we have at least three cases of replaced Galaxy Note 7 units catching fire, and all of them in this week itself. The latest report comes from Nicholasville, Kentucky, where the owner of the replaced Note 7 unit, Michael Klering has reported that he woke up at 4AM to find his bedroom filled with smoke and his phone on fire. Later in the day, he went to the hospital with acute bronchitis caused by smoke inhalation. And guess what? As per The Verge, Samsung knew about it and didn’t say anything. And it gets worse from here. Klering says he got a text message apparently from someone at Samsung who had inadvertently messaged the following So three nearly confirmed reports of replacement Galaxy Note 7 devices catching fire, and Samsung is still delaying the inevitable. It has already caused irrepairable damage to its reputation in addition to billions of dollars in recall and replacements, but Samsung is still dragging its feet to do the inevitable. Dear Samsung, there is NOTHING to gain in persisting with the Galaxy Note 7, and EVERYTHING to lose from here. Do the right thing and pull the plug on the hot damn thing. You’re surely better than that wicked, misogynyst, racist, xenophobic and shameless liar.
