Orion splashed down in the Pacific Ocean, west of Baja California, at 9.40 am PST Sunday, about two hours earlier than expected, closing out the historic mission. The moment came 25.5 days after NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) finally lifted off on November 16 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, following several aborted launches due to technical issues and storms. The mission around the Moon and back was a test run in deep space for when the Artemis II mission lifts off with astronauts onboard Orion....

This morning I woke up to discover a Chrome update waiting for me on my Galaxy Note II. Taking a peek at the changelog, it said Google Translate, a feature I’ve been using in Chrome Beta, is now available in Chrome Stable. And sure enough, after I applied the update, it worked flawlessly. You might not care, but I read websites in multiple languages on a daily basis. According to a well-known media web portal, Bloomberg, the tech giant Apple received “unprecedented access” to the giant chip maker Qualcomm’s source code, on condition that it isolates its engineers from teams working with the giant chip maker Intel – it provides modems for some iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models. The lawsuit says that this separation did not occur: for example, at an Apple request to obtain proprietary information from the giant chip maker Qualcomm, an Intel engineer was on the list....

In Summary Strategy Analytics has released its report on global smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2021, driven mainly by China. Smartphone shipments grew by their highest since 2015 in the first quarter of the new year. Samsung took first place and Apple second, but the Chinese trio of Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo recorded fantastic growth. Earlier today, Samsung launched its much anticipated 2016 variants of the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 in India. The handsets are slightly toned down versions of their Chinese variants, though they do feature almost the same exact set of internal specifications and features. OnePlus has been hit with yet another security breach. The Chinese company has sent out an email to OnePlus buyers highlighting the security issue and the damage it has done. OnePlus says that an “unauthorized party” was able to access the company’s online store and data like order information. OnePlus claims that payment information and account details were not exposed. However, other equally private data like names, addresses, emails, and phone numbers have been exposed....

As per the latest report from IDC on the Chinese smartphone market, Oppo and Vivo managed to overtake Huawei for the first time in the third quarter of 2016. The report states that the Chinese smartphone market grew 3.6 percent sequentially in Q3, 2016. The IDC report details Oppo’s growth and says that it is not an overnight growth as many people have been led to believe. Before 2014, when OEMs like Samsung, Lenovo, and Coolpad were dominating the Chinese market by selling their phones through operators and by offering heavy subsidies, Oppo focused on expanding its offline presence in the country, especially in tier-3 and tier-5 cities....
